Fires at Oil Depots in Zhytomyr Region After Russian Air Strikes

INTERNATIONAL: Two fires broke out at oil depots in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine on Monday.March 7, with the country's State Emergency Services saying they were caused by two Russian air strikes.
One fire was in the city of Zhytomyr while the other was in Chernyakhiv.
There were no reported casualties or injuries as a result of either fire.
The Zhytomyr fire was said to have been contained at 9:30 p.m.
The Russian defence ministry says that on Saturday,March 5, in aerial combat near Zhytomyr, about 100 kilometres west of Kyiv, four Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets had been shot down.

The chief of South Korea's ruling party was admitted to hospital on Monday,March 7, after being hit on the head by a stranger while campaigning for this week's presidential election, in which early voting has been marred by some irregularities.
Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil was attacked in Seoul by a man wearing a traditional robe who approached him from behind and struck him on the head with a small hammer.
Party officials have reported Song was in a stable condition and a suspect was in police custody.
In a contest characterised by scandals, smear tactics and gaffes, the Democrats' Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Suk-yeol of the conservative main opposition People Power Party are running neck-and-neck.
Both men on Monday have condemned the attack on Song, who is also Lee's campaign manager.
"Violence harms democracy, it can never be accepted," Lee has told another rally in the southeastern port city of Busan, and wished Song a rapid recovery.
Yoon has issued a statement saying any violence interfering in the election could not be justified, and hoping for Song's speedy recovery and all campaigners' safety.
A tight race between Lee Jae-myung of the ruling Democratic Party and Yoon Suk-yeol of the conservative main opposition People Power Party was reflected in a record turnout of nearly 37 percent in two days of absentee voting that ended on Saturday ,March 5.
South Koreans were voting for a new president Wednesday, with an outspoken liberal ruling party candidate and a conservative former prosecutor considered the favorites in a tight race that has aggravated domestic divisions.

Flood warnings have stretched across Australia's east coast on Tuesday ,March 8. and tens of thousands of Sydney residents fled their homes overnight as torrential rains again pummelled a large swath of the country.
Australia's eastern rivers were already near capacity following record downpours in several parts of Queensland and New South Wales states over recent weeks, cutting off towns, and sweeping away farms, livestock and roads. Nineteen people have been killed, most either in flooded homes or in cars attempting to cross flooded roads, since the deluge began.
"A tough 24 hours or even 48 hours ahead," bureau of meteorology forecaster Dean Narramore has said during a media briefing on Tuesday as he forecast up to 5 inches of rains across Sydney over the next 24 hours, with the storm clearing by late Wednesday,March 9.
Heavy rains have lashed Sydney overnight with some suburbs receiving up to 7.8 inches, since Monday morning ,March 7, exceeding March's mean rainfall of around 5.5 inches triggering flash flooding and snap evacuation orders in the southwest of the city.
